A rare find, these mid-19th century antique dog statues were produced by highly regarded statuary producers Austin and Seeley.

In addition to the exceptional patination developed through natural age and weather, the recumbent pair can be seen to have had numerous repairs over the years, retaining integrity. Illustrating true craftsmanship of the Victorian manufacturers, they provide an authentic and unique piece for an exterior space. The sculptures are deeply carved, with attention to detail such as muscular form to deliver a life size canine pair.

The material used by Austin and Seeley is not that dissimilar to Coade stone, but is a combination of Portland cement, broken stone, coarse sand and pounded marble.
